Our v-Gold jewelry

When it comes to gold jewelry, not everything that glitters is built to last. If you’ve ever wondered why some gold pieces fade quickly while others stay glowing for years — the secret lies in what’s underneath the surface. Gold vermeil and gold plated may look similar, but their quality, materials, and longevity are on very different levels.
So what is the difference? And why do we choose to work exclusively with gold vermeil? Let’s break it down.
What Is Gold Vermeil?
Gold vermeil (say it with us: ver-may) is a premium gold finish that starts with a base of solid sterling silver — not brass or any other cheap filler metal. It’s then coated with a thick layer of real gold. To officially qualify as vermeil, that layer has to be at least 2.5 microns thick. That’s five times thicker than standard gold plating, making it more durable, more resistant to wear, and better suited for everyday pieces.
Is It Real Gold?
Absolutely. We use 14k gold — a perfect balance between purity and strength. It gives off that warm, rich glow, but with the durability you want in jewelry you actually wear. Whether it’s our classic gold or our soft rose gold tones, we stick to the real deal.
Why We Don’t Do Gold Plated
Gold plated jewelry often uses a thin flash of gold over a base metal like brass or copper. It might look nice out of the box, but that finish wears off quickly — sometimes after just a few wears. That’s not our vibe. We design pieces to be worn, loved, and kept — not tossed after a season.
How to Care for Gold Vermeil
Good news: it’s easy. Use a soft, dry polishing cloth and gently wipe in one direction. Keep your jewelry away from moisture, perfumes, and chemicals, and store each piece separately to avoid scratches. With just a little care, your vermeil will keep its shine for years.
The Verdict
If you want jewelry that balances luxury and longevity, gold vermeil is the way to go. With a solid silver base and a thick layer of real 14k gold, it’s the smarter, longer-lasting alternative to gold plating — and the reason we use it across all our collections.
